RWS Air Guns Diana 34 Air Rifle
Pellet gun

I hear you are looking to buy your first adult
air gun. Or were you
buying that air gun for someone else. A birthday or graduation? Some
other occasion? Short on cash but want a real precision built air
gun. Need a
air rifle for the cabin? the garden shed? There are many choices
out there believe me; I've been there! I first bought a cheap
break barrel rifle branded with the name of a major firearms
company. It was junk and I almost didn't look any farther being
disappointed in what I had already found. Let me offer some advice.
Start with quality. |

There has been an influx of inexpensive air
rifles from all over the world but there are very few companies that have
been right at the top for as long as Diana. So save yourself some
frustration and consider joining the ranks of
model 34 owners. After all this rifle has been in production for three
decades. |
You want more info on the 34? Ok! Here it is plain: most air
rifle per dollar period. You get the same T05 trigger that is
equipped on every other Diana rifles even those that cost more than
twice than the 34.
This is good. Next is a near perfect blend of power and
accuracy. Adult sized and well balanced. Although the 34 is a bit
rougher around the edges than say a Beeman R9, it costs about half
as much and produces a little more velocity but its a little less
accurate. |
 |
|
|
 |
The rifle
has a very nice micro click rear sight, the front sight is a hooded
“barley corn” tapered post which is very precise. |
|
The 34 is equally at
home target shooting, Plinking, Hunting and pest control (the latter
two especially in
.22 cal/ 5.5 MM). Here's a 10 meter target (approximately 33 ft) on
left shot
with open sights standing free hand. No Olympic medals in my future!
10 RWS Meisterkuglens mostly in the black. |
 |
The next
target on right was shot from 20 yds hand held from the bench. 5 RWS
Superdomes. as you can see this rifle is no slouch in the accuracy
department.
I tried this rifle with RWS Superdomes and
Meisterkugelen,
Beeman H&N and
Crosman premier light pellets. It had a preference for the RWS
offerings. |
 |
|
|
|
|
I added the
RWS 4x32
compact scope to assist my aging eyes for
shooting at 20 yds. I had to try the “droop” compensating
inter-mount
from leapers. It uses separate
Accushot weaver style rings. This is a
good choice for Diana rifles as it makes up for the difference in
angle between the receiver and the barrel.
This difference is sometimes called droop. |

There is some plastic on
this rifle namely the trigger and the receiver end cap and safety. Its
good quality plastic so don't sweat it. As stated the trigger is
plastic. It is a two stage unit with a short crisp second stage and
nearly creep free let off.
The trigger guard is black finished steel. The safety is located in
the center of the receiver end cap and is well placed for both left
and right handed shooters. It is resettable a useful feature in a
field gun. The safety sets with cocking the action. Push in to fire
and pull out for safe. |
 |
|
 |
They tend to break in a little bit and become smoother. Loading
is easy as the breech face is exposed when the barrel is open
for cocking. The in-letting or metal to wood fit is excellent
and indicative of a much more expensive gun.
The metal also has a nice finish over polished metal belonging
to more expensive models. The wood though a little plain having
no checkering or end caps is still of nice quality with
interesting grain structure in my subject rifle. Overall its
long, lean and purposeful. Adding a butt cap of rubber or
plastic would be an easy DIY project although not really
necessary. |
